What is JAM Card?

JAM Card allows people with a learning difficulty, autism or communication barrier to tell others they need ‘Just A Minute’ discreetly and easily. Those with a communication barrier are often reluctant or unable to tell others about their condition. JAM Card allows this to happen in a simple, effective non-verbal manner.

JAM Card was originally developed for those with learning disabilities and difficulties. However, it can be used by anyone with a communication barrier. For instance, JAM Card can be used by people with Asperger’s or autism. It can also be used by those who have a brain injury and people who otherwise feel self-conscious about their ability to effectively communicate when engaging with others.

The concept of the JAM card training and marketing material is to allow you

to tell your customer that you are a JAM card friendly business and welcome card holders or app users.

How do I avail of training?

DCSDC’s Access and Inclusion project has created an opportunity for up to 600 e-learning opportunities for businesses within Strabane.
All businesses involved with BIDS will have an opportunity to avail of the
e-learning resource by giving permissions for two selected email addresses of nominated persons from each business to be forwarded to the DCSDC Access and Inclusion Coordinator, Louise Boyce, louise.boyce@derrystrabane.com, so that their details can be incorporated/embedded into the administration process.
This then allows for a link to be circulated to an online test. There are 15 questions following the online training which has a pass rate of 80% and provides you with three attempts to pass. As a result, your two staff members will be prompted to print off a certificate upon completion.
