Christmas presents are sorted this year with the launch of the festive InStrabane Gift Card.

The gift card is part of the Strabane Business Improvement District (BID) plan, where users can purchase cards ranging in value from £5 to £200 which can be spent across multiple businesses, or redeemed all at once.

It works in the same way as department store or shopping centre gift cards, but it is spread across a much wider area, giving you plenty of choices.

Up to 80 businesses are currently signed up as part of the programme, covering food and drink, shopping, leisure and attractions, health and beauty, and much more – so no matter who you’re buying for this Christmas, there will be something for everyone.

Sinead Lynch, Derry City and Strabane District Council Business Officer, said the card was the perfect gift.

“With so much going on at Christmas, it’s almost impossible to search for presents for everyone, but the gift card takes the hassle and the stress out of shopping, and it allows the recipient to choose whatever they like!

“Our focus is to promote businesses in Strabane and the surrounding areas, and to ensure the continued economic growth within the area.

“Christmas time is a huge period in terms of spending, and we want to ensure that as much money as possible is going back into the local economy, and in a way that will benefit the public as well.

“Whether you live in Strabane, or are part of the diaspora further afield, the card is a quick and easy way to show someone your appreciation during the festive season, while also helping your town.”

Michael Kelly, Chair of BID, explained the benefits of taking part in the gift card scheme.

“Business in Strabane is only getting better and better, and we are hopeful that that trend will continue over the festive season.

“With more businesses signing up for the card, there are so many options for people to spend it as they please and it’s that variety that makes it such a unique gift.

“We are delighted to see the local economy prospering and that has been down to the support of the people of the town and the surrounding areas. We’re looking forward to that continuing.”
